Travel & Leisure Magazine Names Charleston, SC in "Top Best World Cities for 2010" for North America

Travel & Leisure Magazine has come out with their annual list of 'World Cities' based upon the readers' votes and guess which city has secured a spot for 'Best World Cities in the US & Canada'? Coming in at #3 is none other than Charleston, South Carolina! Charleston is #3 with Travel & Leisure.
We've actually beaten out such cities as: Chicago, Washinton DC, Los Angeles, and Boston. With the draw of historic downtown, the beaches, and the beautiful weather- there truly is no reason not to love this paradise we're living in.

Popular James Island SC Neighborhoods

James Island has a number of different popular neighborhoods, with each having different character. For those searching James Island homes for sale, the task can be daunting if you’re not from the area and are looking to relocate here.
The following are a list of some of the more popular James Island neighborhoods, and the price ranges for each.
Bayview Farms- This is a great neighborhood made up of single family homes, with the majority of the homes being on water. Fresh water ponds and tidal creeks are plentiful in this James Island neighborhood. Homes here typically range from the mid 200’s and get into the 400’s for those on tidal creek. April is a great month to be in Charleston. The city and surrounding areas are in full bloom, the nights are longer, and the weather here is just perfect. Whether you're getting the boat up and running, doing some spring cleaning in the house, or doing yard work- the temperature here seems to be just about right.
Meanwhile, in between those ambitious projects, there's plenty to enjoy around town:
- Festival of Houses and Gardens, downtown Charleston - Festival tours feature the interiors and gardens of approximately 150 historic private houses in 10 colonial and antebellum neighborhoods during the peak of the city's blooming season. New Park Planned on Folly Beach

A new park is planned for Folly Beach. The county Park and Recreation Commission intends on buying the Front Beach Inn and four other properties at East Arctic Avenue and East 2nd Street. All of the 5 properties add up to about 1 acre. For those of you that are not sure about the location, it’s just over from the pier and the large Holiday Inn.
The plan for the park is create a park facility with restrooms, showers, and a playground. The goal was to create something similar to the layout at Isle of Palms County Park.
Some of the locals have strong opinions about how this came about. I believe that it will positively affect the Folly Beach real estate market. A view of the park instead of another high-rise hotel on front beach suits me just fine. Plus,…
Free Parking in Downtown Charleston for the Holidays

I can feel the Holiday spirit! Yes, that's right, the City of Charleston and Republic Parking are offering free two-hour parking vouchers for all of their downtown parking garage locations. This free parking is still good from November 28th, to December 31st.
For all of you locals or visitors in the area, this is a great time of year to see Charleston. The free 2 hour parking passes are perfect for a dinner downtown, or shopping for all of your friends and family. You can print the coupon directly from your computer HERE.

It's hard to believe there's just one page left on the wall calendar - but what a full page it is! As grateful as we are year round for all that we have, the holiday season makes us especially conscious of the value of home and family and reminds us of the importance of what we do for others. It's a wonderful time to share with family, friends, and neighbors, and a wonderful time to set something aside for those not so fortunate.

Boeing Lands in Charleston!

Boeing announced that Charleston will be the final location for the 787 aircraft assembly plant, more specifically, North Charleston. This is great news for our local economy here in Charleston, as 3800 jobs are expected to be filled over the next seven years, and Boeing is to invest more than $750 million. This will also spur growth in real estate for the area, as many employees and future employees will be relocating here.
The Boeing Co. will build the new line at its Charleston International Airport property instead of the other proposed location in Everett, Washington. This is big, as the unemployment rate is almost at an all-time high, and the local area will benefit from this massive company.

Charleston, SC Ranks #4 for Top 10 Cities in Us and Canada

Travel and Leisure Magazine just came out with their best cities in the United States and Canada, and guess who came in at #4? You guessed it, Charleston, SC. The number one, two, and three spots were: New York, San Francisco, and Quebec City.
The magazine (with a circulation of a million) conducts a reader’s survey to get the results, and this year, Charleston got bumped up two spots from number 6 to number 4. Our sister city, Savannah, came in close at #7.

Carolina One Real Estate now #1 in Commercial Sales

A long-term leader in the Charleston Real Estate market in residential sales, Carolina One is now on top for commercial sales as well. Closing 41 units since the beginning of 2008, Carolina One has now doubled its nearest competitor.
The broker of our commercial division has said that Carolina One has led Charleston, Dorchester, and Berkeley counties in the residential market since 1992, and has added commercial value over time, to get to where we are today. Carolina one is now leader in the market with a 25.1% market share, for those companies that sell residential and commercial real estate.
Since becoming an independent company apart from Prudential in May of 2008, Carolina One now has the flexibility to boost its competitive commercial efforts.

Basically, the two areas are similar in distance to downtown and the beaches, with each having similarities and each having their own differences.
