West Ashley attractions draw many people to experience the thrill of stepping back into history. One can visit Charles Towne Landing, a state historic site covering 663 acres of land along the Ashley River. It adjoins the property of Drayton Hall, which finished construction in 1742. It is the oldest surviving example of Georgian-Palladian architecture in the South.
